PFAFF Passport 2.0

When considering to get into sewing there is one key decision one has to make very early! Getting a sewing machine!

Not only will this choice strongly influence one's experience with sewing but one has also no clue at this point how to go about choosing a sewing machine!

I reached out to friends that own a machine for advice, and the conclusion was to aim for something mid-range. Basically, the lower range of the non-hobby machines.

As there is a sewing machine shop in our neighbourhood and we were just exiting the harsh corona lockdown phase, I decided to try and support local stores. The personnel in the shop were extremely helpful and we came to the conclusion that the PFAFF Passport would be a great choice for me as it is a relativEly powerfull machine with many functions, compact in size and with a friendly price!

Of course they had run out of machines as many other people had the brilliant idea to pick up sewing during the quarantine but a week later they received new machines!

They sent me home with a sewing starter kit that you can see in the pictures above! I also stopped by a fabric shop close to home to buy my first ever fabrics and I was ready to go!

Little did I know at that point that buying fabrics is a real addiction, but more on that on a different blog :P

That first day, my sewing included trying to thread the machine, sewing a straight line, a couple of decorative stitches and a button hole on a fabric bag I had. That took me a substantial amount of time and I was done for the day being very pleased wth the weird looking results!!
